Cranksgiving this Sunday, Nov. 20th, come ride and race for donations for The Food Bank of Iowa.
You bring a fun attitude and your bike (road, cross, hybrid, or mountain) and we’ll provide you with a map of local stores and a list of 12 items to buy around the Des Moines area (one item per store).
Bike registration opens at 12 p.m.
Bike race starts at 1 p.m. from Mars Cafe
Sunday, November 20, 2011.
We’ll start and finish at Mars Cafe.
Come enjoy some coffee, tea, beer or food before and after the race!

From our in season selection, La Tortuga from Honduras is our current single origin offering.
Round and plush, the mouthfeel envelopes sunny notes of tamarind, dried mango and apricot puree. Towards the center, creamy dulce de leche emerges alongside a tropical acidity. The finish is pleasantly long, leaving you with a beautiful aftertaste of praline.

Are you looking for something fun to do this weekend? We were, too…so we joined forces with Mullets, The Royal Mile, and Gusto Pizza Co. to bring you an end of winter bicycling event to coax you from the warmth of your winter cubby holes, and to benefit the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Yes, grab your bike (maybe dust it off/air up the tires) and meet us at Mullet’s (1301 SE 1st
Des Moines, IA 515-244-1443) this coming Sunday, March 13th at 10 a.m. for a short ride from lovely downtown Des Moines, through the Sherman Hill district and on to Dogtown! Along the route we will be stopping for libations at the Royal Mile on beautiful 4th Street, some more refreshments and pizza at Gusto Pizza Co, then some sort of musical entertainment and more celebrating at Mars Cafe.
There is a $25 registration fee which can be paid at Mullets (registration will be open from 10 to 11) the morning of the ride. Wait? Registration fee? Yes, and all proceeds from the registration are going directly to the ICADV to raise awareness of and help put a stop to Domestic Violence. You don’t walk away empty handed, though…
Your registration fee nets you a drink ticket for Mullet’s to help get the party started, another drink ticket for Mars Cafe to keep the party rockin, one raffle ticket, and a ride t-shirt designed by Dan Koenig of Yankee Doodle Tattoo/Ichi Bike and printed by our friends over at 8/7 Central. The Shirt looks amazingly just like this picture.
And what is this about a raffle? There will be a raffle drawing at Mars Cafe with prizes provided by Back Country, BikeIowa.com, Rasmussen Bike Shop, and more. You receive one ticket with your registration, and have the option to buy more raffle tickets along the way, with one hundred percent of the ticket dollars going directly to ICADV.
Four easy miles, four great stops, fun, prizes, and one great cause. Dust off your bikes, grab a friend, and get in on the first year of this soon to be legendary annual event!
*Again, all proceeds from registration, raffle tickets, and private donations will go to benefit the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Please help us reach our 2011 goal of raising $1000 to help this great cause.
It’s coming…
We’re doing it again! And thank GAWD! We have had so much fun at the previous Des Moines Cranksgiving events that we had to bring it back.
You bring a fun attitude and your bike (road, cross, hybrid, or mountain) and we’ll provide you with a map of local stores and a list of 12 items to buy around the Des Moines area (one item per store).
All products purchased for the event will be donated to DMARC and The Pet Project. There will be top prizes, such as a gift certificate to Yankee Doodle Tattoo, as well as a raffle for a new bike! If you have any questions, please email Sara Broek at blondie2950@gmail.com.
We hope to see your happy holiday faces!

Pour over coffee is a great way to experience the many subtleties from one roast to the next. Stop in and share a Chemex for two, or enjoy the slightly bolder flavor of brewing a cup of coffee with the Hario V60.
